ANT CONTROL


CARPENTER ANTS (Camponotus spp)

  • Coal black 1/4 to 3/4 inch length
  • Infests trees & homes
  • Lives in wood but does not eat wood
  • Has egg, larva, pupa, & adult stages
  • Requires monthly pest control to eliminate adult stages, then to eliminate pupa stages as they transform to ant stage

PHARAOH ANTS (Monomorium Pharaonis)

  • Reddish brown 1/15th to 1/2 inch length
  • Infests all types of structures
  • Winter foraging inside. Summer months foraging outside
  • Has egg, larva, pupa, & adult stages
  • This ant is difficult to control and requires monthly pest control

ODOROUS HOUSE ANT

  • Brownish black 1/2 to 1/8 inch long
  • Nests are shallow & found under boards & stone
  • Moves indoors late in summer. Prefers sweet foods

BED BUGS

  • Cimicidae or (sometimes called bedbugs), are small parasitic insects.
  • The most common type is Cimex lectularius.
  • The term usually refers to species that prefer to feed on human blood.
  • All insects in this family live by feeding exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals

YELLOW JACKETS (Vespula)

  • Yellow with black stripes 1/2 inch length
  • Nest in ground, railroad ties, hollow blocks

  • Nest in attics, walls, crawlspaces, soffits

BALD FACE HORNET (Vaspa and dolichovespula)

  • Black with white face
  • Nests are grayish bags found in trees or on sides of buildings or in sheds
  • Opening found at bottom of nests

PAPER WASPS

  • Paper combs located behind shutters. More commonly found under eaves. Cells opened downward and not covered.
  • Produces 100 to 200 workers

SOLITARY WASPS

  • Mud Dauber Wasp
  • Black in color
  • Found on edges of mud puddles
  • Builds mud nest on side of homes and in attics
  • Service schedule Spring through Summer

BUMBLE BEES (Bombidae Bombus)

  • 1 1/2 ” in length
  • Furry looking black & white
  • Nest in holes in ground , under bushes, or behind cement stoops
  • Egg, larva, pupa, & adult stages
  • Service recommended through Summer
